dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Disaster may give different impacts toward women and men, It can be the opportunity to improve the structure of social relations. Catastrophy like Merapi eruption in 2010 become one of the major events that served as a lesson for Indonesia government to pay attention toward gender integration in disaster management system. Kepuharjo village in Cangkringan sub-district was the one of the worst disaster-prone area affected by the eruption. Then, local government through BPBD of Sleman district was integrated gender perspectve in the strategic plan 2011-2015. This research will analyze the effectiveness of gender mainstreaming by the BPBD of Sleman toward disaster risk reduction effort. Researcher took a sample of beneficiaries of rural communities Kepuharjo in Sleman district,Cangkringan sub-district, Yogyakarta. Keyword: Gender Mainstreaming, Women in Disaster, Merapi Eruption 2010 in Kepuharjo, BPBD of Sleman District.
