dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Name : Rauldatul Husni Nim: 14/370577 / PSP / 05060 UNAMID (United Nations African Mission In Darfur): Cooperation Between UN and African Union in the resolution of the Darfur conflict This thesis analyzes the cooperation of the UN and the African Union in resolving the Darfur conflict. Specifically in this thesis discuss about the UN increase it is cooperation with the African Union in Darfur, seen from the initial formation of UNAMID, the UN continue to improve its mandate based on the UN resolutions. This thesis also saw UN efforts in improving its power to protect civilians, whatever the obstacles faced by the United Nations and the African Union in this conflict as well as the support of the Sudanese government itself. In the findings of this thesis, the UN increase its cooperation with the African Union due to the conflict that has led to genocide, human rights violations, and cease attacks from insurgents, namely the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and the Sudanese Liberation Army / Movement (SLA / SLM) which led to loss of life and large-scale evacuation. UNAMID since the stand which primary mandate to protect civilians and fulfill all the needs of citizens in terms of both food, and medicines for the wounded. In this cooperation, the UN is not free to ask the rock to member countries in terms of military personnel, military weaponry in civilians, as well as the funding required for such maintenance. This all could not run properly without the assistance of the Government of Sudan itself, the Government of Sudan to be more involved in this conflict caused more aware problems. UNAMID whose mandate is running out eventually extended until 2016, with the extension of this mandate, and improvement is always UN and African Union in collaboration will provide positive effects for Darfur towards peace.
