| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT Climate change issue is getting more international attention. Countries around the world compete to show their commitment to trying to reduce their emissions level, Japan is no exception. The high emission reducion targets forcing Japan to acquire emission reduction cedits through cooperation with other countries. Indonesia is seen as a potential country for that cooperation, given the lack of the use of low-carbon technologies domestically. From that point, Japan is offering joint crediting mechanism as a scheme for greenhouse gas emission reductions. JCM can also be seen as a mechanism that made by Japanese government to internationalize their low-carbon technologies. This cooperation is executed through technology transfer activities are supported with financial assistance provided by the Japanese side. Through the agreement, each party can get benefits. For both countries, the project activities implemented under the scheme JCM will be able to contribute to the achievement of national emission reduction targets. For Japan in particular will be able to become a media campaign and a market for their low-carbon technologies. As for Indonesia, the scheme will be able to encourage private participation in creating energy efficiency and to support low-carbon development.
