| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe the analysis of the discourse of superiority as a form of soft Japanese nationalism in the comics or manga online Captain Tsubasa The Rising Sun, Indonesian translation version by: (1) presents a visual discourse analysis of Japanese superiority. (2) To identify the sociocultural practices in the discourse of Japanese soft nationalism in manga Captain Tsubasa: The Rising Sun using comics theory, the theory of discourse, soft nationalism and narcissism, and diplomacy. This study uses a model of discourse analysis by Norman Fairclough about the discourse of social change, but to see the visual context using the visual discourse analysis from Gillian Rose. The findings showed that the visual and verbal text, a discourse that is displayed by the author is tend to favor Japan and disparage other countries. Japanese authors describe themselves through drawings and writings that contain forms of narcissism. At this stage of the practice of discourse is also seen that in the production process of manga Captain Tsubasa The Rising Sun also shows the power relations such as politically and economy. At the stage of social analysis are finding their form of social change as a practice sociocultural discourse Japanese nationalism which had focused on the spirit of struggle, but over the times and of particular interest, the discourse changed to be more focused on absolute victory. These interests with regard to the motives of the Japanese government that wants to build Japans international image through this Japanese popular culture media, manga.
