dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Blatantly attack the market leader is now frequently performed by a variety of products both within and outside the country. Initially the ads only show benefits of its products by inserting small humor and use the talent of famous artists. But over time, along with increasing competition in the business world these ads which are primarily used as a way to give persuasion to prospective customers turn into insulting satire against competitors. This research aimed to do a study of perceptions of messages in attack ad by Bintang Toedjoe Masuk Angin. This study focused on the differences in perceptions of the two groups of students with different educational backgrounds. The research was conducted through survey by distributing a questionnaire involving 90 samples. In the questionnaire, there are two dimensions studied, they are message content and message format. The results showed there were significant differences between the perceptions of communication students and electrical engineering students towards message contents in Bintang Toedjoe Masuk Angin ad. In addition, there were also significant differences between communication students and electrical engineer student perceptions towards message format in Bintang Toedjoe Masuk Angin ad.
