| dc.description.abstract | Abstract Environmental issues have become a worldwide concern in the last decade. Natural damage caused by climate change and the vanishment of natural resources as well as the damage caused by human being have become more severe through times. Various parties have been trying to increase social awareness. One of the actors who have an active role on doing environmental campaigns is Youth Environmental Organizations (YEO). Yogyakarta is considered to have the greatest number of YEO in Indonesia with a total number of 21 YEOs. Among these YEOs, environmental education is the most popular approach. The style of environmental education is different between one YEO to another. It depends on the characteristics of the group. Interestingly, this society often collaborates one to each other on going on their environmental education action despite of the unavailability of developed networking. Generally, the collaboration is formed because this society works on the same area. Thus, it is interesting to see the networking pattern of this society on going on their environmental education action, both the networking form itself as well as the role of its components. This research also tried to analyze what strategies can be done by the YEOs to make the use of social networking in order to achieve their goal on environmental education. This research has been done using Social Network Analysis (SNA) method with 21 YEOs in Yogyakarta is included. Each YEO is represented by its chairman or a selected committee member. The results of SNA show that the density of environmental education networking is still low with only 92 relations presented out of 420 total possible relations. The presented networking is divided into a main component consisting of 19 YEOs. Two YEOs are isolated from this networking. Within the main component, the distance between each YEOs to be able to make a connection is two steps. Meanwhile, the maximum distance is three steps. There are three YEOs, Earth Hour (EH) Jogja, Jogja Berkebun, and Koalisi Pemuda Hijau (Kophi) Jogja, becoming the key of this networking. The action of environmental education has been initiated as a part of their contributions on etheir environmental movement. Networking is needed as media of communication and sharing knowledge between YEOs. Considering recent conditions, management of this networking is needed to support the environmental education program. This could be done by increasing the networking activity of each YEO or a consolidation by the three key components (Earth Hour (EH) Jogja, Jogja Berkebun, and Koalisi Pemuda Hijau (Kophi) Jogja) to strengthen this networking. In addition, the use of online media can also be optimized to support this program.
