ABSTRACT This type of research is descriptive qualitative to know how the dynamics of communication in constructing identity Antakusuma University organization. Through qualitative description obtained a clear picture of the dynamics of communication in constructing the new university identity, what has been done for the actors to construct the identity of the organization and the outcomes obtained and the obstacles faced during organizational identity construction. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and gather information from a variety of documents. They show that in the process of sensegiving University Antakusuma still be private from every actor who was in the leadership ranks about identity claim, has not been officially documented, so that there is no agreement on the identity constructed. In the process of sensemaking has done socialization process to the internal and external public with material that is not "clear" by utilizing the local media and through other forms of physical and non-physical identity, as a result of internal communication problems. And in the process of sense-exchanging there are some achievements obtained Antakusuma University and several efforts in overcoming the obstacles that occur.
