Kebijakan Perancis dalam Penarikan Pasukan Isaf dari Afganistan
Abstract
Abstract This thesis examines the France policy to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan in 2012 or two years before the time agreed with NATO member countries at the end of 2014. By applying neoclassical realism perspective, tries to describe the foreign policy is the result of an international structure, domestic factors, and the complex interactions between them. The tragedy of WTC bombing was success to bring of NATO countries in military intervention in Afghanistan and form the combat unity called the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). This military operation has been running more than 10 years and raises a lot of contradictions. France as one of the largest contributors of troops and logistics in Afghanistan has decided to withdraw its troops in 2012. Based on the framework of neoclassical realism, the independent variables or external factors look at the global environment changes and international security which change the course of French politics to intervene in other region besides Afghanistan. At the same time the European economic crisis hit the most of NATO member countries, so the government must be focused on efforts to reduce the deficit of defense budget. Intervening variables are domestic factors that translate external situation which the French refused to spend the state budget for prolonged war in Afghanistan. The elite and France peoples refused further involvement in Afghanistan. Both of these variables are shaping the behavior of French foreign policy.
