Pola Adaptasi Masyarakat terhadap Abrasi Pantai:(Studi di Kawasan Pesisir Samas Bantul Yogyakarta).
Abstract
ABSTRACT Disaster abrasion lately hit the South Coast region of Yogyakarta has a significant impact on the lives of the people, especially people in the South Coast region. Abrasion in the form of loss of shoreline because eroded by the enormous waves that result in the loss of homes damaged and some residents, Although not until claimed lives but abrasion that hit the coastal tourist area Samas Beach has brought material losses and psychological effects are great for the victims. The risk that the material was great as the impact of the loss of homes and other materials but no steps to address the disaster mainly conducted by the government. To overcome the effects of coastal erosion of the community to make efforts or adaptation to the impacts caused by the coastal erosion. The purpose of this research is to examine the pattern of community adaptation to abrasion in the region Samas Beach, Bantul, Yogyakarta. `This study uses theorising Ecological Adaptation of Emile Durkheim and Social Action Theory of Mark Weber. This study uses Ethnographic Qualitative Research Methods. The informants are Samas Beach Society, local government and other NGOs. Data was collected through structured interviews, observation and documentation passive participation. The analysis was developed using the theorization of adaptation to natural disasters abrasion to analyze the adaptation measures undertaken by the Society Samas. This study found that the reason Samas people living in disaster-prone coastal areas due to economic factors which have no material possessions and more besides in Samas and familial factors of social relationships between people Samas are difficult to separate and tend to close. In addition, this study also found that the interpretation of the public to natural disasters coastal erosion, shelter and different adaptation and can be divided into several categories, abrasion as the providence of God, abrasion as a matter of concern as a human impact and abrasion damage the environment. Adaptation strategies owned by the Society of Samas is, among others, before the disaster abrasion, while the coastal erosion and after the occurrence of coastal erosion. Adaptation strategies are influenced by internal factors of the community and external from outside the community. The internal factors are the motivation, experience and knowledge / education which is owned by the Society of Samas while external factor is information, socio-cultural norms, environmental and social institutions owned Samas Society. Being alert and disaster education is very desirable to increase the adaptive capacity of the Society Samas. Keywords: Adaptation, Abrasion, Samas Beach
