Pola Patron -Klien Foke-Nara dan Forum Komunikasi Anak Betawi(FORKABI) dalam Pemilukada DKI Jakarta 2012 di Kelurahan Jagakarsa Jakarta Selatan
Abstract
This thesis aimed to investigate the patron-client pattern between the incumbent pairs of Jakartas Governer 2012, Fauzi Bowo-Nachrowi Ramli (Foke-Nara)and Betawi community organizations namely Forum Komunikasi Anak Betawi (Forkabi) or Betawi Communication Forum in the Jakarta governor election 2012. Patron client is a phenomenon that cannot be separated from Jakarta election 2012. This study describes the pattern of patron-client between Foke-Nara as patron and Forkabi as a client on the Jakarta governor election 2012 in the village Jagakarsa-South Jakarta. This study uses James Scotts view of patron-client concept as the main theoretical framework. This study was conducted in Jagakarsa village, South Jakarta. That locus was chosen because in addition to Foke-Naras victory in the area, the quantity of Betawi ethnic is less than the immigrants. It is in fact that Betawis sentiment is still prominent in the political process conducted by Forkabi as the winning team of Foke-Nara. This study used a qualitative method with case study. Case study was chosen because it focuses on one particular object as a case to be investigated in depth so as to unload the reality behind the phenomenon. The phenomenon in this study is the massive door-to-door campaign in Jagakarsa-South Jakarta which was conducted by Forkabi to support Foke-Nara as a candidate for Jakartas governor 2012. The result yielded that the pattern of patron-client employed by Foke-Nara and Forkabi is the pattern which occurs due to the resources exchange as the main point in patron-client relationships, as well as the protection and expectation as what is said by Scott. There was one resource exchange, private resource that was not described by Scott but mentioned by Stoke in his distributive politics. Moreover, the pattern of patron-client relationship between Foke-Nara and Forkabi was not only based on instrumental friendship as said by Scott but there are other element such as emotional closeness because of ethnicity and religion. Thus, patron-client pattern between Foke-Nara and Forkabi was a mixture of distributive politics and transactional politics. Keywords: Patron-Client, Foke-Nara, Forum Komunikasi Anak Betawi (Betawi Communication Forum), distributive politics, transactional politics.
