Sikap Pemerintahan Shinzo Abe dalam Kasus Relokasi Pangkalan Militer Futenma ke Henoko di Okinawa
Abstract
ABSTRACT For such a long time, the Okinawan people in Japan suffer from a great exposure of military bases stationed in Okinawa. The existence of military bases in Okinawa eventually led to a pile of problems which often referred to as the Okinawa Problem. In the year of 2007, Henoko was chosen as the relocation site for Futenma Military Base, as the following result of the kidnapping of an Okinawan girl incident by three US marines in 1996. However, the construction project soon went under heavy criticism from the residents of Okinawa, as well as the local government. The dispute between Okinawa prefectural government and the Shinzo Abes central government regarding the relocation of Futenma Military Base to Henoko is then still continues to be brought to the court in Japan. This research would further analyze the domestic factors and objectives behind Shinzo Abe governments policy towards Okinawa. By doing so, this research aims to find the influence behind the Japanese governments attitude concerning the issue of the relocation of the Futenma military base to Henoko. Keywords: Shinzo Abe, Okinawa, military base, resistance movement, central government
